It seems that top phone makers, Nokia and Apple’s trial case regarding patents won’t be over anytime soon, not to mention that its first actual trial will begin only in 2012, when a U.S. court should decide which company infringed which patents.

According to an analyst, Nokia is seeking payment of up to 1 billion euros ($1.36 billion). This Finnish phone maker filed a suit against Apple back in October last year, claiming that the Cupertino company’s iPhone infringes 10 of its patents. Apple responded with a countersuit last December, saying that it’s actually Nokia which infringes 13 of its patents.

Apple later removed four patents from the claiming, but this has not…

Apple has started banning many applications for its iPhone that contains sexually provocative material, including photos of women in bikinis and lingerie, as some users have complained about it. This is an action that surprised developers who had been profiting from such programs.

According to Philip W. Schiller, the head of worldwide product marketing at Apple, “It came to a point where we were getting customer complaints from women who found the content getting too degrading and objectionable, as well as parents who were upset with what their kids were able to see.”

Apple blog 9to5Mac has been doing some investigation inside the the new iPhone OS 3.2 SDK, and they’ve uncovered something really interesting.

Seen in TelephonyU framework, there are some resources that will feature video chat functionality in future iPhones.  Also found in the SDK were some iPad telephony applications that have some Video Chat strings.

Two PNG button files, one to accept a video call and one to reject it, and a call to these buttons in the TelephonyUI binary make excellent fodder for video chat rumors. And if this will come true in the near future, this would mean some sort of front facing video camera. For sure, iPhones enthusiast will…

The latest version of the iPhone Software Development Kit has been unveiled, version 3.2. What’s more is that the latest version of the iPhone SDK now allows Voip calls over 3G.

In the past, VoIP calls were limited to WiFi, meaning you couldn’t make VoIP calls unless you were connected to WiFi, something that is so disappointing especially when all you want is to stay connected while on the go.

But now, Apple has lifted the restrictions against 3G VoIP calls from ihone SDK. Hopefully, not only does this mean that VoIP apps like Skype [iTunes Link] can now be easily updated to allow VoIP access over 3G on the iPhone, it…

According to Tim Horan, a telecommunications analyst at Oppenheimer & Co., Apple Inc. may release the iPhone to all U.S. wireless carriers in the next 18 months, doubling or tripling the number of devices sold.

Since June 2007, AT&T Inc. has been the exclusive carrier of iPhone. Now, it is said in the Bloomberg report that T-Mobile USA Inc. might be selling Apple’s iPhone this summer, followed by Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. in the fall, and Clearwire Corp. in 2011. How true it is?

Hopefully we’ll find out in the next coming days whether or not AT&T is losing its exclusivity on the iPhone. Let’s all wait for further information.
