For sure a lot of Android fans will giggle in excitement when we say that Google is offering about 30,000 applications. We know, that’s a lot in store for all for you. It is undeniably because of the fast growing Google’s Android Market.

Google haven’t announced this exact number yet but a Google representative just confirmed it. Nevertheless, there were actually only 16,000 applications before the news came out three months after an AndroLib report – meaning about 14,000 apps were added in the last three months.

Therefore, about 60% of the applications are now available in Android Market for free while about 40% are paid.

Google has released version of its Google Earth 3D mapping system for the Android smartphone platform, which means devices running Android 2.1 or later versions like the Nexus One can now go through this new application for free.

Just so you know, the Android version of Google Earth is the fastest mobile version that comes with Roads layer providing road labels drawn on top of the satellite imagery, with a smooth framerate and a beautiful 800 x 480 screen.

Google is rolling out updates for Google Nexus One owners that adds a series of enhancements and fixes. One of which is the multi-touch feature, the pinch-to-zoom that now function works in the Nexus One’s browser, Google Maps application, and within the photo gallery.

The update also features Maps version 3.4 that lets you view your favorite map locations from your computer but now on your mobile phone plus the screen can be adjusted to night mode for easier and convenient map viewing. Google’s Nexus One Phone Sells about 20,000 in its First Week

The Google Nexus One sold an estimated 20,000 units in its first week, according to market analytics firm Flurry and it’s looking a little low compared to its main competition like iPhones. However, Google still haven’t confirmed these sales yet.

Flurry monitors the usage of more than 10,000 developer applications on iPhone and Android platforms. It tracks over 25 million end user sessions per day. From that, it was able to figure out the first week sales for the Nexus One as well as prior phone launches such as the myTouch 3G, Droid, and iPhone 3GS.

Google unveiled its newest search related tool: Google Visual Search in a CNBC program aired on December 3. Although focus group trials back in August of this year did not go well, Google is still working to improve the system before it rolls it out on a large scale.

It is planned to allow an Android powered smartphone user to take a photograph of something and get relevant search results back - all without entering any text.

Research group IDC reported that Google’s market share increased to 5.4 percent from 4.2 percent in the third quarter for Western Europe — a major market for handsets.  But then again, consumers still didn’t understand what Android is.
