The fall of the economy nowadays has been making life harder for everyone not to mention with one of the leading telecommunications solution provider Ericsson as it set to cut a number of around 950 jobs in Sweden. While having 856 employees, yet determined to reduce its workforce so as to reduce cost, the company is closing of one of Ericsson’s base station factories, namely the Gavle facility.

MetroPCS has unveiled the ZTE Essenze, a basic and affordable slider phone with standard features. 2 Million Global WiMAX Subscribers by January, Not So Promising

A recent report by ABI Research says that two million global users will subscribe to WiMAX service by January. Not so good news though with regards to many services slowed rollouts and low subscription numbers. Still the research firm says that U.S.-based Clearwire, with adequate funding, is deploying at a steady pace already with 173,000 subscribers.

It seems that we have no idea what sort of market share we should expect from WiMAX in the long run. However, after the battle of CDMA vs. GSM, it aims for one of these 4G technologies win decisively over the other.

China, known to be the most populous country in the world seems to have increased rapidly in the usage of mobile services. At the end of August 2009, it has already reached a number of 181 million users that access the Internet via their mobile phones. Thus, it increased with 53.4 percent from the end of 2008.

The surveys find out that mobile phone users in China accessed the Internet 2.2 times a day, for a period of time of 97 minutes on average. Likewise, it seems that those who own 3G-enabled handsets accessed the Internet five times a day and have browsed the Web for 105 minutes on average.
