We are not sure if rumors are all true that Verizon Wireless Motorola DROID owners will begin getting their DROID Android 2.1 updates now. As of to date, one thousand Droid owners have probably received an update notification, while other 9,000 owners will be receiving theirs too soon.
Of course, as expected, the Moto Droid’s new software (version AP:ESE81/BP: C_01.3E.03P) will definitely bring several improvements and additional features, including Pinch-to-zoom for the Browser, Maps, and Gallery, Yahoo Mail support, Speech-to-text, 3D layout for the Gallery application, and Google Goggles.
This Android 2.1 software update will be made over the air (OTA) but kindly bear in mind that you cannot use your device or make emergency calls while installing.
